Hobbit House - 4x4in Electro-etching
Hobbit House - 4x4in Electro-etching
Title: Hobbit House
About the Work:
This work memorializes the abrupt ending of the one-hundred-year-old tropical jungle at the Conservatory in Assiniboine Park while addressing the larger human experience of grief, sadness and loss.
This small intimate image records favourite areas like the hobbit house in the Conservatory. I made the small 4x4 inch images, to keep alive the memory of each of these lush beautiful tropical plants that were part of this place.
There are thirty hand-pulled and numbered images from this electro-etched copper plate. Each image is etched into the copper plate and transferred to the 100% rag Somerset printmaking paper. The copper plate is 4x4 inches and the support paper is 8x8 inches. Each piece is hand-printed using a hand-operated etching press. The colourful Japanese paper which is integrated into each image will vary making each image unique.
A signed and numbered image will be mailed to your address backed for protection with a piece of matte board and enclosed in a thin plastic protective covering inserted into an envelope.
