Struggle within Tiamat

The progressive struggle between chaos and order is observed with vibrant colours and textures, as creatures appear human forms emerge and a tree is revealed. The many eyes of generations see the struggle past, present and future. Hope is born anew in each image. Immortality is desired, yet death remains.

The colour etchings are created on zinc plates, with the aid of nitric acid and resist grounds. (This work was created early in my career before I became aware of important health and environmental concerns.)

The vibrant colours are created using the viscosity principal with several large and small rubber rollers. The plates are inked using the intaglio method using either red or yellow etching ink and the images are transferred to rag paper by applying heavy pressure using a hand-operated etching press.
