Treasured Fir - 4x4in Electro-etching
Treasured Fir - 4x4in Electro-etching
Title: Treasured Fir
About the Work:
This work memorializes the abrupt ending of the one-hundred-year-old tropical jungle at the Conservatory in Assiniboine Park while addressing the larger human experience of grief, sadness and loss.
This small intimate image records a favourite plant from the Conservatory. I made the small 4x4 inch images, to keep alive the memory of each of these lush beautiful tropical plants that were part of this place.
There are thirty hand-pulled and numbered images from this electro-etched copper plate. Each image is etched into the copper plate and transferred to the 100% rag Somerset printmaking paper. The copper plate is 4x4 inches and the support paper is 8x8 inches. Each piece is hand-printed using a hand-operated etching press. The colourful Japanese paper which is integrated into each image will vary making each image unique.
A signed and numbered image will be mailed to your address backed for protection with a piece of matte board and enclosed in a thin plastic protective covering inserted into an envelope.
