Jungle Home - 12x16in Archival Ink Jet Digital Print, Edition of 10
Title: Jungle Home
Size: 12x16in, archival ink jet digital print on 100% rag paper, edition of 10
About This Work:
These digital drawings record the remnants of the once-great tropical jungle biomes as our allies. The marks of these drawings, compose the complex geography and awe-inspiring beauty of the rainforests, activating nostalgic memory and cultivating a sense of affection for this natural wonder.
I want you to fall in love with the magnificent wonder of the rainforest trees.
The rainforests are not isolated ecosystems but rather interconnected affecting the whole global environment. We are all affected no matter where we live.
The ghosts of the jungle, those trees and species that die, disappear or become extinct reveal and conceal what has been lost or what might be lost. Their disappearance leaves a void, a shroud of memory and an echo of what has been lost and might be lost if we continue to put carbon dioxide into the atmosphere at the present rate.
William Black said, “The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.” I intend my drawing to provide joy and inspire individuals to fall in love with trees and forests. I strive to increase understanding of the environmental problems facing tropical forests and inspire awareness that each of us as individuals has an impact and can make a difference in our global environment. We are interconnected with our environment, not exceptional and independent from it.
What matters is what can I do.
