Persistent Death - Viscosity Colour Etching
Persistent Death - Viscosity Colour Etching
Title: Persistent Death
About This Work:
This viscosity colour etching is from a series of work titled Struggle Within Tiamat that explores the idea of creating order out of chaos. For this series, I drew inspiration from creation mythology including the Babylonian creation myth where new realities are brought forth from the body of the vanquished chaos monster Tiamat.
The progressive struggle to order chaos is observed with vibrant colours, patterns and textures. As creatures appear, human forms emerge and a tree is revealed. Eyes see the struggle past, present and future. Hope is born and lost. Immortality is desired, yet death remains.
My personal iconography in this work is based in part on Babylonian, Egyptian and African creation mythology.
This viscosity colour etching is 12x18 in on a 15x22 in piece of 100% rag Johanot Printmaking paper in a signed and numbered edition of 25. This original etching will be rolled in a tube and shipped to your address.
