About This Work:
These cards are from a series of liquid acrylic and graphite paintings influenced by the vibrant flora and fauna found in the tropical garden at The Leaf in Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg.

The Leaf is a spectacular indoor horticultural attraction where visitors journey through four distinct biomes including the tropical jungle. It is a stunning showcase of our diversity, expressed through plants that shape our lives here in Canada and across the globe.

Drawing amidst the awe-inspiring tropical trees and plants at The Leaf fills me with immense joy. The lush greenery, interspersed with bursts of vivid colours from tropical flowers, captivates my senses and fuels my artistic passion.

However, my joy is tinged with concern for the state of rainforests and forests worldwide. In my paintings, I incorporate the presence of a ghost tree as a poignant reminder of the trees and species that are vanishing or have already gone extinct. Each lost tree leaves behind a void, an absence that we must acknowledge.

Through my art, I aim to ignite a love affair between viewers and the tropical rainforest. I want to cultivate a deep sense of care and appreciation for the health and survival of our trees and forests globally. It is my hope that this emotional connection will inspire action to preserve and protect these enchanting and vital spaces.

Let us embrace the magic of the rainforest and commit ourselves to be stewards of the earth's precious trees and forests. Together, we can ensure their preservation for generations to come.

This card is a digital reproduction of my painting.   I photograph the original painting and have a local printer create a high-quality card. Please note: colours may appear slightly different on screen than on your art card.
